Fellowship:  the Social Heart of the Parish

Holy Trinity is a friendly community, and informal social opportunities abound; here are a few of the more formal ways to participate in the social life of the parish:

Annual Meeting and Dinner

Bookclub

Chess Club

Easter Egg Hunt

Men's Breakfast

Parish Picnic

Pictures

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper

Sunday Morning Breakfast

The Parish's Annual Meeting and Dinner takes place each year in January.  Members contribute their favorites for a covered dish supper.  The dinner is followed by the parish's Annual Meeting.  Please come, bring a dish to pass, and learn more about the life of the parish.

Our Book Club.  Members of the parish and community meet in the parish hall the last Sunday of each month at 7:00 p.m. to discuss a different book.   The club eagerly welcomes new members.  If you love to read, pick up the book of the month and come to Book Club.

A community Chess Club meets on Wednesday evenings in the parish hall.  Bring a board and play a game or two!

Easter Egg Hunt.  The children of the Sunday School sponsor an Easter Egg Hunt every Easter Sunday morning.  Eggs are dyed and decorated during Sunday School at 11:00 a.m. on Palm Sunday, then hidden with other treats for the hunt.  Children need not be members of the church to participate in these two special Easter events.

The Men's Breakfast takes place each year in May on the third or fourth Sunday of the month.  On that date, the men of the parish cook and serve a full, hot breakfast for the members of the parish after the 8:00 a.m. service.  Eggs, sausages, fried apples and flaky biscuits are some of the delights served up.  Even better, the men clean up the kitchen after themselves!

The Parish Picnic is held each year in the summer on Onancock Creek at the home of a parishioner. The tradition of a summer Parish Picnic can be traced back to the earliest years of the church.  Members of the parish sailed from town to nearby Meadville, a large home on Onancock Creek, their baskets laden with fried chicken, beaten biscuits, gallons of potato salad and homemade cakes.  The tradition continues as each year, a family in the parish invites the entire congregation to come to its home to worship, enjoy the beauty of God’s creation along an inlet of the Chesapeake Bay, and feast on an array of delicious food.

A Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper is held every year on Shrove Tuesday.  This free event is hosted by the men of the parish, and the entire community is invited.  The Pancake Supper is a fun evening which offers much more than than just pancakes and sausages.  Gala decorations, a rollicking sing-a-long, games, and doorprizes are just a part of the action and enjoyment.  Come eat delicious pancakes and cheer on your favorite in the pancake race - don't miss the fun!

Sunday Morning Breakfast is offered after the 8:00 a.m. service by a rotating group of volunteers.  This is an informal gathering around the kitchen table consisting of delicious breakfast treats, coffee, and juice.  This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know one another in a relaxed setting.  Everyone is invited; come as you are.  No reservations are needed.
